A conservation mural concept using recovered material to make an environmental issue visible.

MATERIAL WITH A MESSAGE

Mural, Material & Message

This conservation mural concept explores how recovered material can play a larger role in telling the story of ghost fishing and marine debris.

After dragging a chain heavier than I am from the water, I was struck not only by its physical weight but also its communicative power. Incorporating the recovered chain into the mural gives the material visibility and adds a physical dimension that registers with our bodies as well as our eyes.

Together, imagery and material evidence can invite a closer look, reveal what’s at stake, and create a path to learn more and get involved.

From Awareness to Action

The QR code extends the mural into a companion digital experience, connecting visitors with the material recovery story behind the mural, the issue of ghost gear, and ways to participate in conservation locally.
